Russian Face

Russian Face is a poetic document about Vera Gutkina– a painter, an immigrant in Israel, and a mother of two. The film is a multi-layered dialogue between Vera and her daughter Tamar, the director of the film. Tamar, making her first steps in the Art world, tries to come to terms with her lifelong dilemma: Can a woman be simultaneously successful in art and in motherhood?

Angles in the Sky of Jerusalem

Vera Gutkina is a painter who immigrated from the USSR to Israel and has significantly changed her painting style in Israel. The director, Izac, examines the change he himself has undergone as an artist since immigrating to Israel. The film, and their meeting explore the tension between a painter’s individual artistic style and the, voluntary and involuntary, adaptation to the social environment. This short film dwells on Gutkina’s change in painting style in the years following her immigration from the USSR to Israel. The film, and their meeting.
