Echoes of the Masters: Vera Gutkina’s 1989 Exhibition at 39 Steps Gallery

In the fall of 1989, the 39 Steps Gallery in Shlomzion in Jerusalem hosted a special, even distinct artistic homage: Vera Gutkina’s series, Dialogue with Old Masters. This collection of delicate, evocative portraits pay tribute to the titans of art history. The works not only capture their likeness but also the spirit of their creative genius.

The two paintings remaining from this exhibition are renderings of works by Rembrandt and Goya. These pieces embody Gutkina’s ability to blend historical reverence with her own distinct voice, offering glimpses into the lives and minds of the artists who shaped the visual language of the world.
